Like i say i think ive missed my chance to get a card out of this batch due to changing my order. My 3090 can't do that, and it's a shame, because Optimum Tech reports his 3090 draws 71 watt less at 1800MHz using 806mV and that'spretty good. Funnily enough my super fast tests when I got my card back in November concluded that heavily undervolted ran it a few fps lower but shaved off 100w in draw. Is it important over the 97.5%? Bonnouji Yeah you gotta flatten the curve really early otherwise it does weird things. This isnt anything new either and has been done both to GPUs and CPUs to helt them with thermals although I think it still isnt as knows as overclocking. Latest driver as for all settings. This is rock stable and knocks about 70W power and 5C temp off stock settings, as well as giving me about 75MHz increase in core GPU speed, so a win all round. The reason my card does better undervolted than stock (I get 12700 or so stock I think) is that lower voltage means less power meaning it can do more with the 400W it is allowed to play with. So I just tried running Heaven with everything on Auto with the power limit cranked to the max. Do I need to test with max ray tracing on and off for stability? In game mine clocks to 2025mhz with these settings. Remember to save these settings in MSI Afterburner. Picture is from Optimum Techs video on YouTube. Posted in Troubleshooting, By You may be able to hit 2000MHz using only 0.7mV while mining. Also uninstaling and reinstalling your gpu drivers. Posted in General Discussion, By 4070 Ti running much slower than expected ? We want to use the Curve Editor which can be started either via the button in the Voltage area or via cntrl-F. But first a few words about the settings and the models: The card runs in the Performance BIOS with 370 Watt and delivery state. Any 3090 users here who undervolts care to share their undervolting results? Again. If the test drops below the 97.5% in framerate stability, the test will stop (fail). I think my card is slightly above average? Now that you have the F/V Curve Editor. Also, it says "mem: 1218 MHz" - is the memory downclocked a lot? Runs well at max 1910-1920 with gpu boost doing it's thing. Articles, Guides, Reviews & Articles, Video Cards/Graphics Cards Hello! Create an account to follow your favorite communities and start taking part in conversations. Started 28 minutes ago Yes, slight undervolt and overclock on my zotac 3090 - 0.95v and 2050mhz I think. That is a proud 100Watt less than the delivery condition! I would like to further undervolt my RTX 3070 to test out the maximum efficiency. Features: I shouldn't have opened its box. But 99.9% sure you won't be gaming or doing stresstest @2000MHz with only 0.7mV on the core. Ampere is supported in the current version. When I first tried, I crashed at 825 (iirc) around 1800'ish mhz, can't remember exactly where I had it, but definitely in that ballpark, if not right at 1800. Posted in New Builds and Planning, By Neo Forza Faye DDR4-4600MHz 32GB (2x16GB). If the Time Spy Stress Test have a framerate stability of 97.5% and up, it will complete the stress test successfully. Fans 80% @ 64C -> stays 64C during benchmarks and 50-55C during gaming. Thanks. Also, just for info: my 3090 was perfectly stable at 1800MHz@850mV but after started playing games with Ray Tracing like Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and Control I learned that my 3090 wasn't stable at all. Drag the dot to the frequency you want. Okay, it seems you have a higher tolerance for fan noise than me (yeah, I know, that is very subjective, depends on personal preferences, case, case location, etc). I'd be willing to sacrifice some hash speed for silence, if possible. Yes I totally agree. You already know the first article, but of course you can read it again here: GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 Undervolting When Reason and Experimentation Meet NVIDIA Ampere. The eBay seller didn't modify the card or use it at all? Mine is a tad lower but I left the GPU fans on auto, with the latest Resizable BAR BIOS, and I also have an air-cooled 5950X on stock. Use minerstat and set up automated Profit Switching system on your mining rig. Your chip is crazy stable. So my settings was 1815MHz @850mV, with 137% powerlimit. Well, my card is around 35c at idle too, so it's kinda close. Use minerstat and start mining with your Nvidia RTX 3090. power. Apply the curve using the apply button on the main afterburner window. For example in something old like heaven (what optimum tech tested with) I could do 1920mhz on 0.85v and be "stable" all day. limit. ASUS TUF RTX 3090 Setting a fixed voltage and clock in the sweet spot You have already briefly seen the values of the TUF 3090. Sounds a bit scary loading a BIOS onto my card made for another card entirely. Hopefully my notation is clear enough. I set to 0.7v then card will run at 0.7v regardless any software. I choose first to set the voltage to 825 mV. JavaScript is disabled. JavaScript is disabled. It may not display this or other websites correctly. Oh and btw; can't you just send the FTW3 back and get a refund? All of these are practical tests in a closed case with pleasant but appropriate regulation of the case fans in an insulated case. RTX 3080 / 3090 Undervolting | 100W Less = Same Performance? My card is still totally stable, with the undervolt and maxing out the Ray Tracing in the benchmark. I will report back with results. Also it's insane how good that cooler is, keeps it cool and fairly quiet. I started mining few days ago and i'm looking for ways to maximaze performance/safe/profit ratios. Press J to jump to the feed. My 3090 is stable at 1815MHz with 850mV and the result is good - very, very quiet(low RPM) while gaming and after many hours my GPU will occasionally hit 67c but usually it sits at 65c. Does it matter where you start from, like how much you bring the slider down before selecting your mV/freq? Brian from Tech Yes City on . I just started doing this also ichill 3090x3 gets so bloody loud temps hit 74c and that's with fps locked @ 85fps @ 3440x1440 i dropped it -200 and set it 1755mhz and it very quiet temps 56-64c and get same fps. Control and quake ii rtx are best for testing this. Increased performance. My chip is just normal, I think most 3090 can do it. See All Buying Options Only on GeForce RTX Usually you just increase the clockspeed, sometimes with an extra increase in voltage and presto! Freq - 1867 ; Temp 66c ; 60.7fps, Afterburner: 1785Mhz@825mV / PR Scr 12,645 / Avg. And yes, I think that when full on ray tracing is in effect the card will still draw what it 'needs' in terms of wattage, up to a certain point. The Nvidia 3000 series cards tend to have high memory temperatures, so it is important to take care of proper cooling. I mainly wanna undervolt because I want my PC to be quiet with good temps but also because the 3090 is very power hungry. In the end you should set the volate to a value, test it with stress test-software, if it works possibly lower it a bit more and so on. In order for a 3080 to match the performance of a 3090, the 3080 needs a greater power draw and temperature all things being equal. Ideally the power scales with the square of the voltage. I guess I'll re-sell it with a smaller profit than it could net me sealed. By Motherboard tier list (AMD) PSU tier list SSD tier list. Just a note, my card is mounted vertical/aircooled so probably not efficient as it should be. I sim race on f1 2022 - max settin- rt reflections on cars medium - avr. Posted in Troubleshooting, Linus Media Group Open voltage/frequency curve (Ctrl+F) then note the maximum frequency at the right of the curve. You are using an out of date browser. I am going to try changing my MSI 3090 voltage to .75mV and see where that leads me. Started 1 minute ago If the card can handle this, you can either increase the frequency a bit to get more out at the same voltage or you can choose to lower the voltage a step with the same frequency. Current usage 300w- going down atleast 50 would be cool, since it also reduces temp? In the end you should set the volate to a value, test it with stress test-software, if it works possibly lower it a bit more and so on. I can only hit 2190 at 1.17v in game I see other chip can do 2225 at stock voltage. It only updates when there is an update, not immediately. But in a game that maxes out the rtx cores like metro exodus I had to dial it all the way down to 1800mhz on 0.825v. It was an extra 150pounds aswell as the cards having all gone up in price. But the temperature is just comparable with my TUF OC (up to 75C), consuming around the same amount of power as the TUF (up to 320W), but much noisier at stock fan speeds. What if you instead could find a way to lower both the temperature and the power draw while still getting almost the same performance? I used 2560x1440p and Pro(highest) settings, and got an average of 35.28 FPS. Freq -1864? Will that be enough against the Stock Gigabyte card with 370Watt power limit? Is there a simple answer to the question 7900XTX or 4080? It has more CUDA cores, which means it can handle more complex algorithms. 110 MH/s and below 290W. I've played it on both 3070 FE and now 3090 FE - The game is a beast, I only get around 40FPS average, your card is just working very hard. Feels like golden sample. 2 Likes. I was happy with the TUF and didn't know it. Wauw, yeah, that doesn't sound good at all with the FTW3 This shows you the clock frequency at various voltages. You do this by clicking the Save-icon and selecint one of the slots in the right side. Did you OC it? 10%+ less than what others are selling the same card for? Tweaking the curve a bit brings it to 82-83C at a slower fan curve that I find comparable noise wise to the TUF's stock one. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. Ive seen some suggest doing this before starting to do the undervoltning but it seems you can do this afterwards also. The coreclock is at +0 and my fans always at 100%. Will post then. After you run the stress test for about 30 minutes you can pick out the average voltage and the average GPU clock that is recorded. Does MSI gaming trio has better memory cooling? Tweaking the curve a bit brings it to 82-83C at a slower fan curve that I find comparable noise wise to the TUF's stock one. The RTX 3090 Ti hashrate is 135 MH/s on the Dagger Hashimoto-based miner. System sudden fails when I run game or open high resolution image. That just seems unrealistic but I'd love to be wrong haha. Wut, is that stable??? . I also noticed that by default the card sets the target temperature internally to be 70C despite a temperature threshold being set in MSI Afterburner. Have a dual purpose Gaming/VR/Mining rig, first time trying mining and optimizing a card. williamcll A bit lower IMHO but that is what I got here. Started 1 minute ago I linked the full results in the original post if anyone is interested. The Neo Forza brand is a relatively new player in the DRAM memory modules and flash memory products that established in 2018. Like i say i think ive missed my chance to get a card out of this batch due to changing my order. What I saw better undervolt results had the guys from end 2020 and batches from March and later were cards with lower silicon quality in most cases, just luck I know. Silent Base 600 - Window / HP Pavilion, Panasonic SA-PMX94 / Realtek onboard + B&O speaker system / Harman Kardon Go + Play / Logitech G533, Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 750W / Powerbrick, Logitech MX Anywhere 2 Laser wireless / Logitech M330 wireless, RAPOO E9270P Black 5GHz wireless / HP backlit, Cinebench R23 (Single Core) 1936 @ stock GeForce RTX 3090: 47FPSaverage 80 This means that MSI's new GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X -- at least in Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K in this example -- is 8.5% faster than the RTX 3090 FE,. In QHD and load scenarios that generate less load, were usually more like this at 250 watts on average. I came to the term of undervolting, checked some videos, but it still seems too scary to start doing it, since i may fk something up - but as far as i read you can save up to 100w usage. I undervolt my 3080 to 0.9V at 1920MHz. So I got my 3090 Strix and so far tested exclusively at 0.850 V usingMaxes out RT cores demo. Is there a simple answer to the question 7900XTX or 4080? Edit: I'm going to keep this comment updated with more tests/results, Afterburner: Stock / Port Royal Score 12,759 / Avg. My ROG STRIX 3090 peaks67c at 1815MHz@850mVafter many hours of game-time with a watt usage around 330-340 watts, with fans peaking at 2200RPM(stock fan curve). I guess I'll stick with a fan curve that goes up to 1700 RPM for 80C. 3090 Ti Ergo Mining Setting The RTX 3090 Ti provides 274 Mh/s hashrate on Ergo with a power consumption of 264 watts. Well, my card is around 35c at idle too, so it's kinda close. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Could anyone suggest some in game stress tests to use, with ray tracing please? It is on tpu, and it works fine on strix only problem is that one hdmi port is not working. So I just settled in with 850mV and 1815MHz. - Lower power bill (like anyone really cares). Also remember that just because we could undervolt our cards to a certain setting does not mean your card will work the same. 2000MHz on 0.7mV is insane man. This is something that has been done to both CPUs and GPUs for many years. Can anyone please help. I was happy with the TUF and didn't know it. Afterburner only lets me increase the power limit to 107%, I guess that's one benefit of having a STRIX over a TUF =]. Press J to jump to the feed. Just FYI, I could run 1845 at 850 all day long until I got a new system with a 7950X. ZOTAC also offers an industry-leading 5-year warranty subject to product registration. happy to compare results too. I don't know the exact dB though since I have no way of measuring it. When it arrives i will be particularly interested to find out how it performs next to the TUF version.
